Formative Assessment
Much of the learning in the library is about continuous growth, therefore, most of the assessments I have are formative, as opposed to sumamative assessment tasks. However, below are a few different examples of tasks completed by students or records I have kept about student progress.
My student learning goal for 2011-2012 was to have students choose books for independent reading at their correct level, using DRA and Lexile levels. I used the DRA levels that the teachers collected from their assessments as well as the MAP data to determine the level range for each student. I then continually tracked what the students were checking out, what level it was at and had conversations with those students who were continuously checking books at at either too high or too low of a level for them.
