About Me

Picture
I am currently an elementary librarian in the Bellevue School District and the K-5 Information Literacy Curriculum Developer for my district.

My career in education began when my husband Kevin and I moved to India to work at and international School. While I was not an educator or librarian yet and worked as the assistant to the assistant superintendent.  Working in a school environment was a totally new experience for me and  I soon realized how much I would love to be a part of the teaching community. As fate would have it my office was right next to the library, and after spending time there and talking to the school librarian I realized I had found my passion in education.  As a lover of books who is also skilled in organization and interested in life long learning, the job seemed like it was meant to be. Shortly there after, I started the Masters of Library and Information Sciences, School Media Specialization at Syracuse University.

After graduating, my husband and I move to Brazil where I started my career as a K-12 teacher-librarian. I spent 4 years in Brazil, learning, teaching, growing and loving my new job.  After having 3 children in Brazil, we decided it was time to return home closer to family and moved back to the PNW.

I have spent the last 3+ years in Bellevue learning a whole new set of skills as well as putting into action the things I had learned in Brazil. I'm excited to be focusing on how I can support all my students and the librarians in my district.

Professional Mission

I aspire to be the best teacher librarian I can be so that I can help students not only cultivate a love of reading, but also build skills to find, interpret and use appropriate information. I value education, technology and lifelong learning and look forward to sharing these values with students and colleagues. I am working towards this goal by continuing to stay connected with other teacher librarians to share ideas and resources on how to best serve our students.
